DoorDash

1531 Main St, Redwood City

June 10, 2020

Premier Properties is excited to announce the nation’s first DoorDash Kitchens “ghost kitchen.” DoorDash, which holds about 35% of the U.S. meal delivery market, chose Redwood City as the location for their very first commissary kitchen. Premier leased the ±6,009 sq. ft. building at 1531 Main Street to the food delivery giant and worked with them to build out five individual kitchens, each suited to a particular eatery’s special equipment needs. These kitchens provide restaurants with a turnkey solution to quickly establishing a presence in any given market without the time and expense of finding and improving their own brick and mortar locations. Without the initial financial burden experienced by restaurants attempting to expose new customer bases to their food and brand, entering new markets is made much more feasible. The first round of tenants whose food delivery has been introduced to the mid-Peninsula includes Nation’s Giant Hamburger, Rooster & Rice, The Halal Guys, Humphry Slocombe, and Chick-fil-A. For more information, find the full article on the DoorDash commissary kitchen here or take a look at Business Insider’s visit to the “ghost kitchen.”

Premier Properties represented the landlord in this transaction, and Cushman & Wakefield represented the tenant.
